In today’s Gospel (Luke 13, 22-30) Jesus teaches His disciples to learn to step aside, i.e., to let God’s agenda, not their agenda, to take precedence. We are not to limit God’s love and generosity with our biases and limitations. A good question for us today is: Am I making God according to my own image and likeness?

What is stepping aside in a concrete way? Someone said that it is silence when your words would hurt, patience when you are being hurt, deafness when scandal flows, thoughtfulness for another’s woes, sharing whatever little we have, and being kind rather than being right most of the time. Try stepping aside sometime. It does wonders!

Most loving father, you have gifted us with the power to heal.

O, Lord bless our hands that as we touch our ailing body parts, Your healing love will abound. And like the bleeding woman, we will have her strength of faith believing that You are the greatest healer.  And when the pain subsides Oh, Lord that we may entrust further care to your appointed professional doctors, Father.

Lead me to the doctors whom you have blessed with the special privilege to heal throught the work that they do.

I offer my healing, I offer healers that you will send along the way and I offer my faith to You.

The Three Little Pigs


Sometimes I feel like I’m in a house of hay and straw…
My defenses are slowly melting away; even if I told myself that I’ll live inside the house of the third pig.

The Hare and the Tortoise
Have you ever considered what occurred before AND after the race?

Episode 1
I was thinking, the hare asked the tortoise because it knew it would win.
Boastful as it is. And the tortoise, having gone through so much life in, feeling burdened by its problems but wanting to achieve something for itself took on the challenge.
The hare, being high on spirits believing the fallacy that the children of God are ‘saved’ from trials and hardships gladly raced on.

Every single step of the race, the tortoise offered its burdens.
Very painful steps, indeed, because it was burdened by its past, haunted and taunted by its own thinking. Not forgiving itself for the sins it has done…but it went on the race.

The hare being high on spirits but not yet deeply rooted; was distracted by the goings-on in the forest. Took much time in enjoying certain ‘things’ that are not of importance; resting lazily not minding there is a task that needs to be done.

The tortoise won and the hare lost.


Episode 3
Learning from their mistakes.

The hare now firmly believes that once life may be filled with burdens but it is through the perspective of God’s heart one that should look at life.

It prayed that though it may be slow, it may never give up on praying that it’ll never let go again of the hand that saves. And continued with the journey, now, savoring the view along the way.

The hare realizing that God’s children is never exempt from temptations and hardships fell on repentant knees. Went back to the real source of its strength and asked forgiveness. It was again back on its feet, joyfully praising God; carefully pausing to smell the right kind of flowers and dutifully serving whence called.

The tortoise and the hare never raced again. They realized that it life is not a competition to be raced with your fellow but a journey to be enjoyed with your creator.

time machine of a tortoise

it's quite amazing how a picture transforms into a time machine...

allowing you to

go back to where it once happened

remember the events, sometimes, in full 3D flashing before your eyes

reminisce the emotions

imagine the faces of the people you were with.

   

Was cleaning up my HD and came across these pics.

I remember very well the event, the people, the sequence...

But I cannot recall if the smile on this pic was genuine.

(Disclaimer: during those times i remember my smile line involuntarily worrking for my own 'good')

And it led me to pray.

 If I could forget whether I smiled genuinely or not in this picture...

I hope the healing of the painful emotions and feelings that came along with this memory is not far off.

One by one, I'm  slowly saving and stocking  up new memories to overwrite the previous ones...

Thanks for the conscious effort of friends... especially the parking incident. :)

Never let go of me, Lord...

I may be slow, but I always pray I'll keep up to my promise that I won't stop running the race...

Remember to seek Jesus in every encounter…places, occurrences, situations, plants, animals, & people!

Aside from your camera…don’t forget to bring a trusted notebook and pen with you…

And another thing…another thing…(hindi naman ako excited for you, noh!)

Take caution not to focus too much in recording (photos) and encoding (notebook) what has happened that you will miss the opportunity to fully experience what is at present…

I'm  so happy for a good friend who's going on mission... :)
And after emailing this to her...i realized...isn't this how we should be in our daily lives?...

(Sidelights: Touched nga ako when I overheard a friend saying pinagdadasal niya raw ako every morning na huwag magka-migraine…at pareho pala silang praying for me…sarap sa pakiramdam… kaya feeling ko naman, silently, you were blessing me with your prayers din…I simply basked on that thought!)
